Current Adoption Process
Thank you for considering adopting from Coulson Family Rescue.
In this document you will find all the information you need prior to adopting from us, and information on the support that we provide post adoption.
Homecheck
Prior to adopting a cat from us, you are required to complete a virtual homecheck. For this you need to provide a video walkthrough of your home. In the video, we need to see everywhere the cat will have access to, including the front door. Please note, it has to be a video, sending photos is NOT accepted.
You also need to provide proof of ID, preferably photo ID, though we understand that photo ID is not always possible. We also need proof of address, for example, a recent bill that is addressed to the person matching the name on the ID.
Part of the homecheck process includes you informing us of any other resident pets, and age ranges of the people living with you. We use all of this information so we can pair you with a cat that is the best fit for your family. We want to make sure that both you, and the cat will be happy!
These homechecks are done so that we can ensure that our cats are going into safe, appropriate homes.
Neutering
If you are adopting a cat over the age of six months, the cat will be neutered prior to the adoption.
If you are adopting a cat under the age of six months old, neutering will be your responsibility once the cat is old/heavy enough (this will be determined by a vet). Neutering is something you agree to when you sign our adoption contract, this is a term written on the contract that you agree to do when you sign.
Donation and reservation payments
To adopt a cat from us, we ask for a minimum donation of £85. This is to cover the ongoing costs of neutering, chipping, flea and worm treatments, and general upkeep of all the animals in our care. The minimum donation is non-negotiable and non-refundable.
You can reserve a cat from us by making a non-refundable deposit of £25. This comes off the total donation so £60 would be payable at the time of adoption. Donations must be paid in full before you leave the premises with the cat.
Reservation payments mean that once you have paid to reserve the cat, applications will be closed and we will agree on an adoption date.
They can be paid to the following details;
